- This is not a technical course. We have covered all the aspects of lighting camera movement and composition among other topics in our other courses, but let's talk for a second about cameras. Bigger is not always better. Especially on a shoe string budget. There are many technical considerations that must be discussed well before setting a foot on set. My advice is to start with what you own. Collectively as a crew, we own Panasonic GH4, we own A7S. We own a C100, so we started with that. We tested those cameras, we tested the lenses we have, and then understood, collectively the advantages and disadvantages of each system. We decided that we needed several things form our camera. We needed a heavier camera that we could carry and shoot like very specific POVs. We also needed a camera that could perform very well in very high ISOs, in low light situations.
