- Managing the review process is probably one of the hardest things for a script writer to do. It's your content, you've been sitting there, struggling with it, and all of a sudden, everybody has a comment and everybody has something to change in your script so it's always a little bit challenging, but if you can sit back and try not to be so defensive, and try to put your project a little bit at arm's length, it's really going to help. It's especially going to help if you go back to the outcomes we talked about earlier, and that means making sure that the review is always tied to goals. So one of the things I like to do when we're going to do a script review, even if it's just over the phone, or through email, is I say, "Let's just remember "the three goals we had for the script," because a lot of times by the time you get to the third or fourth draft, everybody's kind of just responding to each other's changes instead of really thinking about the big picture.
