- Hey, everybody I'm Robbie Carman. - And I'm Rich Harrington. - And welcome back to another episode, and Rich, this week we are at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center here in Alexandria, Virginia. You might notice the ice rink behind me. - [Rich] We've actually been out working with an Olympic athlete and being able to see her skate, and I wanted to actually hear her skate, and that's kinda hard. You can't exactly just keep chasing after 'em with a stick mic. - Right, you know, all the boom operators I know are pretty good people, but they one thing that they universally don't have is Olympic quality ice skating skills, so following somebody around with a boom on the ice is probably not going to work. There are specialized people that do that. - Yeah. - We just don't have access to them. So there are some times, as you mentioned, that you do wanna mic somebody who is not in close proximity to you whatsoever.
