Develop a process

- It cost too much money to shoot a movie in the order the audience will see it. We have to find a process for shooting a movie expressively and in cost effective way. It's easier to shoot with one look and simply repeat that look through the whole movie, but that's not the most expensive way to shoot it. A good place to start this is on your second reading of the shooting script. It's important that this process happen before making any concrete decisions about how you're going to shoot the movie. If you start planning the look before this process, you risk making decisions that send you down the road to making a different movie than the director intends. That's a waste of time, and it's harmful to the quality of the movie. Start by compiling a set of lists. For me, the first list is called director's questions.
