Controlling temperature

Controlling temperature

- Temperature is a factor when working with LED fixtures. While they don't burn nearly as hot as other types of lighting, there is still some heat produced, and since heat is wasted energy if we are trying to maximize the brightness, manufacturers use a number of methods to keep the heat down. Furthermore, the actual output can increase at lower temperatures. Now, one way to do this is just to add more LEDs, more of these diodes, to the unit. They are small and easy enough to attach to the circuit boards of a panel. Now, this is an Aputure Light Storm, and they've just added a ton of LEDs to this thing to give it the maximum brightness. It's advertised as having 1536 individual LEDs, so that allows it to be pretty bright, yet keep pretty cool, so it's very efficient. Other sophisticated models, like the Astra, the 1x1 Astra LitePanel, will actually put a fan inside the unit to keep the heat down, and when you turn it on, that fan just starts working away, keeping the internal…
