Basics of the C-stand

- The backbone of any collection of lighting equipment is the C-stand. The C stands for century since it was presumably invented at 20th Century Fox. A C-stand takes the place of a person holding something perfectly still in a specific place. It can hold anything. A prop, a monitor, a light, or a flag. Now when someone hands you a C-stand, it's very important that they do it properly. Thanks, Rob. Now you see, he's holding both the body of the stand and the grip arm with his hand wrapped around the whole thing. That's the correct way to do it.
