Working with popovers in your layouts
- Popover button is something that's just recently been added to the FileMaker platform, and it's a layout object that allows you to work with fields, text, or other objects within an layout. Now a popover expands to display, but as it opens up, it's got kind of a cool effect and it adds a really neat element to your layouts. Popover object is a panel, which lets you display any type of layout object, similar to the tab control or slide controls that we've already discussed. But it has the same layout context, so it's not that you're creating a window to a whole other layout somewhere. You can put objects in there that are in the same context, much like you do with tab controls and slide controls. Some examples that people use popovers for would be adding detailed information about a field or an object when you click on it. Or a portal which is a relationship tool that allows you to see related records from another table, And web viewers which is a really cool object that layouts use…
