What you need to get started

- Before you can even access your instance of Claris Connect, you're going to need, what's called a Claris ID. Now, if you have something that's called a FileMaker ID, those have been updated and are now called Claris ID. If you do not have one of these accounts, you can simply go to my.claris.com, and go to the new account, sign up, enter in the required fields, and when you hit continue, you'll have a Claris ID created for you. That's the Claris ID that you'll use to access your instance of Claris Connect. By the way, the same Claris ID can be used to access FileMaker apps that are hosted on FileMaker cloud. Once you have your Claris ID you'll go to connect.claris.com and you'll sign in using the email address and password that you used when you set up your Claris ID. It's been my experience that most of the work in creating flows comes during the set up of the accounts or sandboxes that are on the side of the apps that you're going to connect to. So, for example, let's say you were creating a flow in Claris Connect, that allowed you to connect to QuickBooks online. I would strongly recommend that you first go create an account on QuickBooks online because that's going to be required and then take the extra step of creating what's called a sandbox. QuickBooks online happens to do a really great job of setting up sandboxes. Some of the apps don't have sandboxes. So in those cases I would suggest you just create a demo account. You're going to need some data, or some items that are going to be set up so that you can connect to those when you're building your flows. You can always go switch over to a production account later, but you're going to need at least something while you're setting up these flows. For example, if you have a flow that posts a message to Slack channel, whenever a user downloads a file from box.com, you are going to need to have your box.com and Slack accounts already set up before you can even start configuring your flows. So once you have your Claris ID, and you have set up all the apps that you want to connect to you can start creating flows.
