What are scripts and script steps?
- [Male Speaker] One of the most power features in FileMaker Pro is to create scripts. A script is a sequence of stored instructions that will allow developers to automate repetitive tasks or control how users interact with the system. Pretty much anything you can do manually or through the keyboard or mouse or through a menu command can be scripted. And the best way to understand it is just through practical application because there's so many different scripting options. But some examples of things that are very common from scripting stand point are navigation. You can have button bar across the top of your screen allowing your users to navigate from layout to layout. And this is much preferred over users using the layout dropdown to navigate your system. You can do things like importing or exporting data instead of users having to go through field mapping and find all the menu commands. You can just have a button that does…
