Using related fields in aggregate functions

- [Narrator] As the name implies, an aggregate function in FileMaker Pro is used for calculating various summarizations of sets of data. For example, there are functions that could count, or add together, and even average different sets of data. You can also find minimum, maximum, or the variants of standard deviation. What I like to use is aggregate functions as they relate to related data. So let me show you an example. So, we've got these portals here. We've got invoices, and then unpaid invoices, and paid invoices. So we've got invoices and paid invoices. So what I like to do, every time I have a portal on a layout is I like to create an aggregate calculation, or a calculation that aggregates the data in the portal, whether it's counting data in the portal, telling me how many rows there are, giving me totals of numeric data, averages, whatever it is. Because portals don't always show all the data at once, I find that totalling these things up can be helpful to the user. So let's…
