- [Instructor] Setting up accounts in your database will prevent unauthorized users from accessing, and this should provide sufficient protection for many of your business needs. However, your app could face other security threats as well. For example, packet sniffing tools may allow a hacker to intercept communication between a FileMaker Client and FileMaker Server. The solution to these risks is to set up encryption to obfuscate the data traveling over the network. Now, the term that's often used here for protecting data that moves over the network is encryption in flight, or we call it encryption over the wire as well. For this, FileMaker server can be configured to use secure socket layer protocol, otherwise known as SSL. This will allow you to encrypt data between the server and the client.
