Using the New Window script step
- Creating new windows in FileMaker is something that a lot of users do all the time. As a matter of fact if you're not familiar how to do that you just go under the Window menu to New Window. That'll create two different windows in the same session. You can navigate to different layouts within those if you'd like to. And a lot of users really appreciate that type of experience. But new New Windows can also be used within your scripts to do things like create custom dialogue windows or dialogues that your users can interact with. And I'm going to show you an example of how you can do that. But first let's talk about what we want to accomplish, here. I'm on the invoice detail layout and I can create a new invoice record and when I do that I can pick from one of my existing customers from the list, and then that will pull in all the related information from the customer on to this invoice.
