- [Instructor] It's a pretty well-known design concept that if your product or, in our case, software application looks good, then people are going to be compelled to use it, and that's really the purpose for us creating these applications, so people will use them. And you really only have one chance to make a first impression on looking good. So when it comes to looking good in FileMaker applications, it's really about understanding what a theme is. Now, themes are not specific to FileMaker. This concept is actually found in other applications as well, and the definition is the same. A theme is a collection of styles that can be applied, in our case, to a layout. Now, for those of you that might have some experience in creating web applications or in web design, you're already familiar with the concept of CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets.
