Understand the If script step
- [Voiceover] Creating scripts in FileMaker is an essential part of developing FileMaker databases that are easy for your users to work with. And making sure that your scripts are as intelligent as possible will take much of the guesswork out of using your database as well. A great way to add intelligence to your scripts is by adding conditions. If you recall in the calculations chapter, we discussed a group of functions called logical functions. These allow you to perform a test, or ask a question, and then provide possible multiple results depending on what the result of the test might be. You can do similar things in a script using a set of script steps based on the "If" script step. This allows you to, in essence, ask a question in the middle of your script. And then perform different script steps based on whether or not that question has a true answer, or a false answer. The important part is that question has to be a true or false question.
