- [Instructor] REST APIs are very common and FileMaker users need ways to communicate with these third-party data sources. FileMaker custom apps are increasingly becoming part of an ecosystem where all the information is distributed and not necessarily all in the same place. With the introduction of support for RESTful API in FileMaker 16, we can now integrate JSON data directly into our FileMaker custom apps. So of course that means that we need a way of parsing this JSON data in order to complete the platform strategy. Now, while FileMaker's been able to parse JSON data for some time, it's typically involved extra development or maybe the use of a plug-in. So now, we actually have some pre-defined functions within FileMaker to allow us to be able to work with JSON data directly within our FileMaker custom apps. But first, what is JSON?
