Sorting with a single criterion

Understanding how to create found sets in FileMaker is a very important task for you and your users. Found sets give us the ability to isolate data for the purposes of printing, or exporting, or saving as Excel or PDF, and allows us to work with small groups of data in our database instead of entire table worth of data. Now been able to reorder this data is also important when working with the sub sets or found sets of data in FileMaker Pro. And doing so is called sorting, you may be familiar with sorting from other applications, like Excel for example. Although sorting can be very dangerous in spreadsheets whereas in FileMaker it's a very safe process. But you'll notice something for starters. Whenever you open up a file, most of the cases, when you open up a file like this exercise file here, you'll see that all the records are in, kind of, no particular order. They're not in alphabetical, based on any one of these columns. And you go under Records, you'll see we've got this option…
