Sorting with multiple criteria

- [Instructor] Often when you're working with FileMaker and you've got large sets of records, you may want to look at them in a certain order, and that's where sorting comes into play. But sometimes when you're sorting, you may have multiple different criteria that you need to sort with. Let's say, for example, I've got these 1,523 records and if I sort them all by state, we see them all organized by state alphabetically with the AAs at the top, and in some cases, some fake states, but the WYs at the bottom, so it's done exactly what I've asked. But you'll notice that within all the states, we've also got a bunch of cities, and we'd like to see them sorted as well. So if I go back into the Sort dialog, I can add multiple criteria. For example, I can double-click on City, and notice that it now comes in under State. So what this means is, anytime we see matches in the State field, then it's going to default to sorting by what we refer to as a secondary sort of the city. So now we see…
