Large found sets often require multiple levels of sorting. In this video, learn how to sort with multiple sort criteria.
- [Instructor] Often, when you're working with FileMaker … and you have a large set of records, … you may want to look at them in a certain order. … This, of course, is where sorting comes into play, … and sometimes when you're sorting, … you might have multiple different criteria … that you need to sort with. … Say, for example, we've got this database … with 1523 records in it, and I sort them all by state … in descending order … and if we scroll all the way to the beginning, … we'll see that all the A's, … whatever state that is, … all the way down to Wyoming at the end. … So let's say, however though, that within each sort group, … so that means within all the AA's, … I would like to sort another value, … let's call it city. … It's pretty simple to do. … All you do is you keep your primary sort … on the top of the sort order, … and I'm going to double-click on another value, city, … which means that sort all of the records in the found set, … this happens to be all the records, 1523 of them, …
