- [Voiceover] Often when you're working with large sets of data in FileMaker, you may want to look at them just in a certain order. This, of course, is where sorting comes into play. So for example, we could sort by address state, which then organizes all of our different records into state. But we notice that we've got a large subset of records within each state. Of course, some of these are not state abbreviations, but we can also then sort within subsets. So what's the trick to doing that? So let's say for example within each state we wanted to then sort by the city. That's easier than you may think. You go into the Sort dialogue, which in this case has retained the previous sort that we just did, and what I can do is then double click on the address city. So now what FileMaker is going to do is it's gonna sort by the state, and in any record that has matching state values, it's then going to sort by city. So it kinda cascades that down.
