The if and case functions are two of the most popular of all the FileMaker calculations functions, and this video demonstrates their usage.
- [Instructor] The logical function group contains some…of the most interesting and powerful functions available…in Filemaker Pro.…And I'm going to focus on two of them, in particular.…These two happen to be functions that I use…in probably half of the calculation formulas that I write.…So let's dive right in to taking a look…at how these functions work.…So what we're going to do in this example…is create a field that's called commission.…This is going to be the salesperson's commission…on each invoice sale.…So we're going to calculate this value based…on a percentage of the overall total.…
So let's create a commission field,…make it a calculation,…and hit create.…So let's say when we were first building this,…the rule about commission was…that the salesperson gets 5% commission on each sale.…So let's look at invoice total.…And we'll go to our mathematical operator.…Invoice total times 0.05,…so it's a 5% commission.…Our result is a number, we hit okay.…So now, we can put that field on our layout.…And I'm going to drag the existing invoice total…
