- [Instructor] Any database system must strive to have consistent data. Without data consistency, it becomes extremely difficult and, if not impossible frankly, to drive meaningful and reliable information about whatever a database is designed to keep track of. So, to ensure that the data entered into your database is consistent and reliable for business purposes, you must have some design checks and restrictions on the way that users are allowed to enter data into the system. And this is where field validation comes into play in FileMaker Pro. So, if you remember when you're defining fields, under manage database, you've got some options here in the file options. So, for example, let's say let's pick up AddressEmail and hit Options, you'll see by default we go to the tab called Auto-Enter. The second tab is the one that I wanted to bring your attention to.
