Let me take a quick minute here to talk to you guys about something that's referred to as file formats. File format is just a fancy way to describe the extension at the end of a file. All applications have them. And in FileMaker, you'll notice that it's called .fmp12. That might be a little bit confusing because it has the number 12 in it. But don't worry, you can open any file that ends in .fnp12, and either FileMaker version 12 or FileMaker version 13, which of course we're using in this video. So keep in mind that if you create a database using 13, and one of you colleagues has FileMaker version 12, you guys can open up the same file. But I just want to caution you that if you use any of the FileMaker 13 specific features that we're going to be covering in this video, and someone opens this up in 12, they're not going to be able to see those features.
