Providing field control styles, like the ones in this video, can make data entry easy for your users.
- [Instructor] FileMaker Pro provides many tools…and layout mode for configuring the behavior of fields…that can make data entry easier…and more efficient for your users.…Among these is something called a field control style.…There's a couple of different ways…we can apply field control styles to our layouts…and what a field control style is is a data entry mechanism…that we can apply to a field.…There happens to be an object here that you see…on the top of the screen that will add a field…and apply the field control style to it at the same time.…So for example you see we've got a bunch…of different options.…
I'll go through each one of these in a second…but if we choose drop down calendar…and you'll notice that our pointer tool's turned…into a crosshair.…We'll draw the area that we want to have occupied…by the field.…I'm going to choose invoice date from the list here…and now when I go into browse mode…we can see that not only has the field been added…to the layout but it has this little calendar icon here.…And what that calendar icon represents is…
