- FileMaker provides many tools in layout mode for configuring the behavior fields to make data entry easier and more efficient. And among these are the fields control style, which enables you to define a value list for data entry. And then to format a field to display the value list as either a pop up, a drop down list or a series of check boxes and radio buttons. There's really two primary benefits to formatting fields in this way. First, you get faster data entry by our users, and more importantly, it leads to greater data accuracy. In each case, you can apply a field control style either to an existing field that's on your layout, or you can pick a field control style as you're dropping a field on the layout.
