Determining which tables your FileMaker app will need
- [Instructor] When you're first creating a FileMaker custom app, there's a couple different ways that you can do this. You can use a Starter Solution that are prebuilt for you, but what we're going to do in the course here is we're going to create a solution from scratch and the very first thing that FileMaker is going to ask you to do is to create tables. Now first of all, let's back up for a second. What is a table? So a table is a container within your database that stores data. Remember, a database is just a big bucket of information that can store all sorts of different data, different types of data as well. It's one of the key roles is to store it, but you can also have different types of data within your database. Therefore, you want to make sure that within the database, you've got all the proper places to store these different types of data. And these locations for storing the data are what we call tables.
