Defining fields in tables

- [Narrator] In order to add fields to your database, you must first determine what tables you have, then what fields, and then what types of fields those will be? And once you're there, then it's time to actually define fields into your FileMaker database. And there's a couple different ways that you can do that. First of all, you'll see that I am in a layout for customers and I have this view selected here, this is what's called table view. Table view, you'll notice has a little plus sign on the top of each column, and if you click on that, it allows you to create a field. This is one way to create a field on the fly, but if you're just starting off creating your database, is probably isn't the best option, but I just wanted to make you aware that that was available to you. Most likely, what you'll end up doing is going into the file manage database window, where you can add fields directly into the managed database…
