Assigning script steps to buttons
- [Instructor] If you're just starting to learn scripting in Filemaker, one of the easiest ways to do that is to assign a single script step to one of the layout objects on your layouts and then in turn, those objects act as buttons. So that when they're pressed or when a user interacts with them, they'll preform the action that you assigned to it. Pretty simple. So I'm going to show you a couple examples of that to get you familiar with how script steps work. We'll go into layout mode and I'll pick a layout object. I'm going to pick a button object. I have this button object that's already created on screen here. Happens to be locked, so I'll just go ahead an unlock it since we cannot assign a script action to a button that's locked. We could also add a new button to our layout by clicking the button tool on the top part of our screen. We'll just concentrate on the one that we've got here. So I'm going to double click on…
