- [Instructor] The largest group of calculation functions in FileMaker pertain to investigating and manipulating text strings. Unlike some groups of functions in which only a few are used on a regular basis, I'd say that about nearly half of the text function group are of primary application and importance. Text functions also break into two different categories, analytic text functions, which return numeric data about the referenced string of text, and text manipulation text functions, which extract or manipulate text from the referenced string. So I'm going to take a look at a analytic text functions first. If we go inside File, Manage Database, you'll see at the very bottom of our list in the customer table, I have a field called TextCalc, which is set to calculation and we can add a formula here. On the right hand side I'm going to isolate the text function so that you can see some of the text functions available to us.…
