FileMaker provides control over access to field objects in layout mode and browse mode, and this video demonstrates how to control that access.
- [Instructor] You've probably noticed that…when you place fields on a layout by default,…they're open for the user to make changes to that data.…But sometimes you might have fields on the layout…that you just want to have users see,…but not interact with.…Sometimes maybe even you want them to do searches…inside the field but not interact with it,…or change the data.…So those types of things are controlled through…field behaviors, which when you're in layout mode,…can be available to you in the inspector,…under the data tab, and you'll notice this section…in the middle here, called behavior.…
So what I'd like to point are these two options right here,…the browse and the fine mode.…So the PK value's actually an excellent example of this…because the PK value, as it pertains to the…customer detail here, is a unique identifying number…that uniquely identifies one customer from another.…But if you ever change it you could really mess up…all the relationships that you've got in your custom app.…So what I like to do is show that on screen…
