And while folks through the years have focused on things like YouTube and Vimeo, Facebook is really gaining when it comes to video. There's just so many people there, interested in so many things. And this allows us to really engage with our audience. I'd like to give you just a little bit about my background, and then I'll share with you what we're going to cover. I'm a visual storyteller that's been exploring the fusion of photography and video for almost three decades. I've been putting video up to the internet since 1994, so this is something I know a bit about. and I've authored 40 books I also regulate published content for two different websites, I've invented technology, And in the video world, I often serve as a director, and designing the look and feel of their videos. I also have a background as a project management professional, so I tend to take a very strategic approach to how we organize content and work with technology. And as you can see in this particular course, there's going to be many different things; this is a fusion and a hybrid. We're going to talk about the tech, we're going to talk about the strategy, and we're going to talk about best practices. and web video even longer than that. is save you from some of the potential mistakes, and avoid things that just don't work very well. So what are you going to learn? We'll start off by talking about posting prerecorded videos. You have already have a video file, how do you get it up to Facebook so it looks its best? Then we'll talk about some advance strategies so you can do more with the video file once it's uploaded. This includes setting controls on who can access it, as well as talking about certain things like watch parties, video premiers, and using Facebook videos on other websites. We'll then move onto a very popular area which is live. Facebook gives just about anybody the ability to share live video from anywhere; their mobile phone or their desktop computer. And we'll talk about a new innovative area, which is 360 degree video. Facebook is on the cutting-edge with this, particularly since they've invested in the Oculus platform. We'll then move into making sure that videos are accessible, talking about open captions. The addition of captions not only helps those who are learning a language or have auditory impairment, but also works great for people that are watching video in noisy environments like taxicabs and public transportation. Plus, the use of captions actually helps your video be more discoverable in search. And then we'll talk about some things for those of you that are business owners. How you can manage your video library, and really take advantage of some of the specific features available to those of you using Facebook pages or groups. And lastly, I'll share with you some popular techniques for taking advantage of making your own video player, how with a tool Adobe Photoshop, we can open up a video file and add graphics, overlays, and custom borders. Or even take advantage of things like visible text, it's all pretty cool. And I'll share with you some great ways to integrate video into the Facebook timeline so it stands out.
