- Let me show you how to add captions to a video. Facebook does a pretty good job of auto generating captions, much like how YouTube does this as well. It will use a speech to text algorithm. Now, the quality of the speaker, the overall microphone quality, as well as other factors can influence this. Someone who speaks with a very clear voice without a lot of background noise should be pretty easy to auto caption. Otherwise, there is the ability to upload your own captions, which we'll talk about next. To add captions to a video, you first click Photo/Video at the top of your page's timeline. Then, upload content from your computer. Once the video has been uploaded, choose the Subtitles and Captions area, and then specify the language of the video.
