- If you want to get a better quality livestream, you're going to need better quality video and audio. Sure, your laptop or computer may have a built in web camera and a built in microphone, and that's fine for making Skype calls to your coworkers or calling home to talk to you husband or wife. But it's not great for making professional web presentations. It just doesn't have the dynamic range and the image quality. So, you want a step up. The first place to start is going to be good audio. Now, in this case, I've got a dedicated microphone that's connected with just a regular USB cable to my computer. On the back here, there are some simple dials that can actually be turned to modify the pickup pattern of the microphone. The pickup pattern controls the sensitivity. So, in this case, I could set the microphone to capture everybody on all sides of the mic, or to capture a two-sided interview where we're both talking into the same microphone, or to just favor a single presenter and not…
