Now posting to Facebook mobile is not just about photos. You can absolutely use video. The built-in camera on your Smartphone or Tablet device can record and upload directly to Facebook. Let me show you how that works and then I will show you how to post a movie that's already on your device. Jump on into Facebook, and I am going to switch on over to my page, we will go ahead and share a photo, which is another way of using video, and I will take a photo or video and my camera is going to open up.
I am currently in Photo mode, I will flip that over to Video, and I can click Record. John, would you like to wave to the people at home? There we go, John is controlling the audio back there and also keeping an eye on our camera. Rachel, would you mind waving? Rachel is way back there doing the live switch and making sure that all of this records for you to see. All right, I will hit Stop, and I will just tap Use. There we go, it's attached, and I'll go ahead and post that.
Now the video is going to upload. It will take a little bit of time to compress. Unlike a photo, which is pretty much ready to go, the video file will need to be optimized, and depending upon your network connection, it could take a little bit of time. I do find, though, that this will work over cellular as long as you keep the videos really less than a minute. But this is a great way to easily post content to share. If you're on a Wi-Fi networking, you can absolutely upload bigger files. Now besides what you can do in Facebook, there are wealth of third-party apps out there. One of my favorites is iStopMotion from Boinx software.
I use iStopMotion to create Time-lapse. This is just a test shot from a recent shoot we did where we were doing a timelapse experiment. This allows me to post a nice behind-the-scenes clip from the shoot itself, but I also have other content here. You will see in the gallery that this is actually a pretty robust application. You see here a timelapse shot right on the iPad itself using its own camera.
If fact, if you want, you could tether the iPhone camera to this device and use the higher quality camera for even additional shooting, and it's really quite cool what you can create. When you are satisfied with the movie, you can absolutely publish it and get it out there. Under the Gallery here, I will just type the ability to share, and you notice that I can go directly out to other areas. I am just going to save this to my camera roll, and I could choose the quality. Now I don't need a full HD clip to post to Facebook, that's really quite large, so I am going to go ahead and just drop this down, I will use the smaller standard definition size, and I will click Share.
The file will render out to my Cameral Roll, and just like before, I can post that to Facebook. That video has been shared to the Camera Library. I can now switch over to Facebook and post it really quick. I am going to go ahead and Share a photo. I will just choose it from a Library, and that photo can in fact be a video, there it is I will use that, it's attached. There we go. All right, it's all set, if I needed to I could tag people that were part of the production, but I will go ahead and post that, and you see it starts to upload.
Now because the file has already been optimized, it won't take very long, and that content will quickly become available online. Now we mentioned that there is the Pages app, and this is a dedicated app for those of you using Tablets or Smartphones who want to take greater control over the insights you get. While you see a lot of stuff from the desktop version, this is a dedicated app that makes it easy to browse what your pages are doing. Let's just go to the Pages Manager App, it's totally free, and I will download it.
We can open that up, we will log in, it will connect us back to Facebook for a second, and we will give it permission to send push notifications. Now you are seeing all of your pages, and it may look a lot like Facebook. You will see there, there is a video we posted, but what I really like here is not only can I control my pages, but I get great insights. I can see all of my pages in one place, I can control administrators, I could send messages to people within my groups, and I can look at how things are doing.
I could see what's happening, and as I switch from one page to another, notice there I have people that need responses, it gives me Notifications about new comments on my company timeline. For example, somebody like the photos we just posted, and I could see any Likes or new people who have come to the timeline. This is great, so now we just picked up a new person who likes our business, and it gives us a new opportunity to reach out and connect with them. All these things are in here, and you see you get total control over every page that you manage and the ability to see useful inside information, so you could track your growth and what's happening.
Now we haven't done a lot of new posts to the RHED Pixel page, but I'm anxious that new campaign we just pushed should start to drive people up, and as I switch between some of my different accounts, I could see what's happening with the different activities I am working on. Those insights are very useful because they allow you to track what's going on. You see here we had an advertising campaign that ramped off, but it was very effective in getting new people to come and look at the page. If I switch on over here to one of our books that we do, I could take a look at the insights, and I see a different picture.
So all of these are very useful as you try to track what's happening with your reach and how you're engaging your customers.
