- [Voiceover] Certificates are a big part of Exchange Server 2016. They allow us to securely connect to the Exchange Server using various clients such as Outlook while we are away from the internal network as well as while we are in the internal network. Unified Communication Certificate and also known as the Subject Alternative Name, or SAN Certificate, lets us specify additional host names to be protected by a single SSL certificate. Certificates use host names. Host names are our domain name as well as a name to the left of the domain name that gives us the ability to allow Outlook Anywhere, MAPI over HTTP and Outlook Web Access to work properly. One of the most important host names is going to be your Autodiscover.domain.com. This allows us to work with ActiveSync. ActiveSync by default is going to look for this particular host name.
