Creating public folder mailboxes and folders

- [Instructor] Public folders have been around since the earliest versions of Exchange Server, but we don't really need public folders anymore because we have the shared email option. And this allows multiple users to all share a particular mailbox, and that's exactly what public folders does as well. However, public folders sit on top of a public folder mailbox which sits inside a mailbox database. Previous versions of public folders had their own database, but Microsoft has removed that feature and created the public folder mailboxes. So why do users still insist on using public folders? One reason is because they understand them, they've been using them for years and they don't really want to change. The other is that they have some customizations in many companies that have linked public folders into an application that they can't live without. Microsoft originally said that they were going to remove public folders from Exchange Server in a future version, but then they changed…
