In this video, Robert McMillen demonstrates how to setup an Offline address book. An OAB is used to keep a local copy of the list users in your organization in Outlook. This allows faster access to the list of users without having to constantly communicate with the Exchange server.
- [Voiceover] The offline address book is used to keep…a local copy of the list of users…in your organization in Outlook.…This allows for faster access to the list of users…without having to constantly communicate…with the Exchange Server.…It truly is an offline address book…meaning that there's a copy in a file in your Outlook…on your workstation.…If we go into our Exchange admin center,…and we click on organization and address lists,…you'll see a Default Global Address List.…
This list is then fed to the offline address book…automatically every time someone is added…or leaves your organization.…If we double click on the Default Global Address List,…and then click on the Preview recipients,…we can see the three different users…we have in our organization.…That's all the users we have at this current time…since we just installed Exchange.…So next we're going to demonstrate…creating an offline address book,…although there is one created automatically…when Exchange Server 2016 is installed.…
The reason we would want to create a new one…
