Adding public domains for email

- [Instructor] By default, when we install Exchange Server 2019, we install the default domain that we create using Active Directory. If we go to mail flow on the left-hand side and accepted domains at the top, we can see the default domain that was created. But what if we wanted to add additional domains? All we have to do is click the plus button and add in the name. Capitals do not matter in this particular case. And we can just copy and paste in the name to the accepted domain. They don't have to match. The accepted domain has to be the actual domain. The name does not. We want to leave the accepted domain as authoritative because this particular Exchange Server can send and receive using this domain. If we're relaying to outside locations, then we can choose either the external relay or we can internal relay any internal ones. The internal relay would be used if we had another mailbox server that was the one that was supposed to receive this email or if we needed to send email to another completely separate domain and Exchange organization which just happens to be inside your local area network. We can click Save and that takes care of that. And now if we go back to recipients and we choose any one of our recipients and we edit them, then we can add in this additional email address. So we'll click in plus and then we'll type in the name that we want to have using the new domain name that we just added and then click OK. And now we see both of our different domains. Now the one that's highlighted and has capital SMTP, that's going to be the one that sends when the email goes out. So it's going to appear to be coming from the techpub.us. However, you can receive email on the other one. Now if we reverse those, we can do that as well. We can only do that if we uncheck the automatically update option and then we click the edit button and choose make this the reply address. Now the techpublishing.net one is the default reply address. However, we can still receive emails on both addresses.
