When to use a P chart

- [Instructor] There are several basic types of statistical process control charts that form the backbone of most of your business process analysis. In this movie, I will describe a P chart and describe the circumstances where it's most valuable for your organization. You use P charts when you have proportional data. For example, if you manufacture LED monitors, you can discover what proportion of monitors are defective. And, one thing to note is that this is a binary choice. A monitor is either defective or is not. That also means that a monitor with three defects is treated the same as a monitor with one. Yes, three defects means that you have more problems to look into, but for the purposes of counting the number of units that have at least one defect, then three versus one does not come into the equation. And finally, defects are counted in whole numbers. So, if a monitor has a bad power supply and also a nonfunctional screen, then it would count as one and you can't have…
