(upbeat music) - For a lot of Excel power users, V lookup is the turning point. That's when they really are getting comfortable with data and getting comfortable with Excel, so it's worth taking the time to slow down, get to know it, and have that turning point for yourself. So we're going to talk about why V lookup and what it does. Check out this example. We've got a dataset on the left side with just the names and the other two columns are empty. We need to fill those in with data from this other dataset. That's what tells us V lookup. We're taking a value and we're going to look for it somewhere else and have it bring us back a value. Let's start. We want to bring back favorite animals. Well it equals V lookup. Let's think about this. Lookup value means what do you want me to look for? I want you to look for Bree, comma, where do you want me to look for Bree in this table array that we highlight here?
