- [Instructor] Excel's INDEX function has a variety of uses. 2 If you go to the Formulas tab in the ribbon 3 and go to Lookup and Reference, 4 you will see INDEX and its description, 5 "Returns a value or reference of the cell 6 at the intersection of a particular row and column 7 in a given range." 8 Expressed a little bit differently, 9 it allows us to extract information 10 from a table based on a row and column indicator. 11 On this worksheet here called INDEX, 12 we've got some various prices here. 13 Imagine this might be something 14 like you'd see at a Post Office or a shipping facility. 15 Based on the size of the item, 16 and perhaps they've defined it in a certain way, 17 we've got five different sizes here. 18 Depending upon where we're shipping the item, 19 we've got shipping zone entries. 20 So if it's Shipping Zone 7, Size 4, 21 the price is 12.57. 22 So over in columns P, Q, R, and S, 23 we've got…
