Join Dennis Taylor for an in-depth discussion in this video Using AutoFill to enter a date or time series rapidly, part of Excel 2013: Working with Dates and Times.
…Excel has a number of shortcuts for enabling…you to enter date series quickly and easily.…In column A, the two dates in A2 and A3 are a week apart.…And it could be any day of the week, these happen to be Mondays.…The interval as we highlight both of these is seven days.…If we do highlight both of these and then point to the lower right-hand corner,…it's called the fill handle, we can click and drag using the left mouse button.…Drag this as far as we think we need it and…thereby get a series of dates that are seven days apart.…
A different kind of heading could be every five days, every ten days as long as we…put in two different dates with a certain interval…and then copy those, the interval will be repeated.…And you could be dragging this into many, many years.…So of course, knows which years are leap years…and so on, and all that's accounted for properly.…If you do make entries at mid month report date,…and we might want to put in the fifteenth here as well.…We don't even need to have a second entry here.…
