- [Instructor] Excel's new XLOOKUP function, destined to be a game changer was introduced in late 2019. And ultimately, it will replace both VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP. And in the blue panel on this worksheet, you see some of its additional attributes. Because so many Excel users use both VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP for exact matches, that tends to be the dominant kind of matching that we need. An XLOOKUP is designed to facilitate that need by making exact matches be the default setting. In this worksheet here called XLOOKUP Exact, we've got a list of data in columns D and E, and in column F, we want to come up with a numerical score for these ratings that are in column E. And we've got a table over in columns A and B list over here, a translation list. If we were using VLOOKUP, we could not proceed with the data as we see it, we'd have to rearrange the order of the columns over in column A and B. But with XLOOKUP, we don't need to worry…
