- [Presenter] The switch function in Excel is not officially categorized as a look up function. And yet it often is used for lookup purposes, it's frequently compared with the choose function. Switch is categorized as a logical function. It also is compared with the IFS, another logical function. In this worksheet is a list in columns, D, E and F. And all we're trying to do is to convert the ratings from column E into a numerical score. And if you have a table like we do over in columns A and B, what better function to use than the X lookup function, covered elsewhere in this course. It's simple, direct and gives us the answers quickly. But there are times when you either don't want to have a table like that present, or you don't have it present, and you might need to rely upon a function that has all of the answers embedded within it. And the choose function certainly has those capabilities as does the switch function.…
