Use the SUBTOTAL (and AGGREGATE) functions to avoid double counting

- [Instructor] When you work with lists 2 that have embedded subtotals in them, 3 you sometimes run into some calculation issues, 4 some double counting. 5 In this worksheet, you see a list of states. 6 Here are the New England states, 7 we've got some totals in columns C and D, 8 and then a summary down here for example. 9 There's a total in one over here 10 for two different years where we've got 11 the population estimates, 12 and this is true for the other states. 13 Now, some of you might be familiar with the term 14 and a feature called auto calculate in Excel. 15 If I highlight these numbers, 16 I can look in the formula bar down below 17 and see the total 14, 727,584, 18 the same as this function. 19 No big surprise there. 20 If I click column D, we see the total 21 for all the entries here. 22 And if you happen to have just a rough idea 23 of what U.S. population is, 24 it certainly isn't 642 million…
