- [Voiceover] As you know we use the LOOKUP functions when we know one piece of data, but don't know the corresponding value. For instance, you may know the student's ID number and want to know his name or her GPA. In this video we're going to learn how to use the VLOOKUP function and the HLOOKUP function. I'll also give you a chance to practice on your own during the chapter four challenge, because you may see a task or two regarding LOOKUP functions on the MOSS Expert exam. I have the 0403 exercise file open, let's get going. Lets look at the data we have, our 2017 student roster has all of the information that we would need to know about each of our students. We have a photography roster VLOOKUP where we need to look at the ID number for each student and pull the student's last name in.
