The AutoSum button, found on the Home tab and the Formulas tab, as well as its keystroke shortcut (Alt+=) simplifies formula construction, while automatically tabulating values from cells above or to the left of its current location. You might never need to type the SUM function, just press Alt+= and fill in the details.
