- [Instructor] When you're creating sample data, 2 or possibly updating sample data 3 to make it look more current, 4 there are a number of techniques you can use in Excel. 5 In this worksheet, we see an HR kind of list here, 6 and you'll see the social security numbers in column D. 7 These were all randomly generated 8 and every so often I get a phone call or an email 9 from somebody that says, "Are these real?" 10 Well, I made them all up and so I have to say, 11 some of them could be real. 12 Now, odds are a billion to one that yours isn't here. 13 If it is, I'll gladly take it out. 14 But how do we generate numbers like this? 15 And you can imagine other situations 16 where you've got an ID scheme, 17 maybe it's just six characters, eight characters, whatever. 18 Here we have nine characters. 19 How do we create a list like this quickly, sample data? 20 I'm going to zoom in a little bit here 21 and momentarily…
