(upbeat music) - I hear these awful stories about people who will try to do sums with data in a workbook, but they will get a calculator and a piece of paper, do the calculations and write the results in the spreadsheet. No, let me show you how we end this today. We've got names, Monday through Thursday, hours worked. And now we want sums. Here we go. Let's first total Monday for week one, put our cursor in the cell. In the home tab, go to auto sum. There it is. The marching ants are already highlighting the range that we want to sum. Enter. There's the value. No calculator and notebooks. But there's a warning. Let's go to Tuesday, auto sum. It did not grab the entire range because of that blank cell. We've got to know that about sum. So here's what we can do. Let's go to escape. Equals sum, open parenthesis. Manually highlight the range. Enter, it's beautiful. Now let's total Alex's hours. Let's go to this cell. Auto sum. It even goes horizontal. Enter, there we go.
