- [Instructor] Let's talk about hierarchical and network relationships. Sometimes relationships are about more than just correlation. Sometimes they're very specific connections between things. For instance, the classic hierarchical diagram is the org chart. This is also referred to as a tree diagram. If you want to show hierarchy, your audience will get it if you show it this way. FYI: there's a very close cousin to the tree diagram called the dendrogram, which is nearly identical, but you can look it up at this URL on the screen to see a simple explanation of the difference. Whether vertical or horizontal, this is a classic, but it's not the only chart to show this kind of information. This is called circle packing, or a circular tree map.
