- [Instructor] After you gather and summarize the proportional defect data for a process, you can visualize the data in a chart to determine whether your process is in control. I'll demonstrate how to create a statistical process control chart, using proportional data, using the sample file 0203 plot pchart data which is an Excel workbook you can find in the chapter two folder of the exercise files collection. This workbook contains a single worksheet, and on it you can see proportional defect data, in other words proportion of a sample that had at least one defect, and then also the mean proportion and the upper and lower control limits. Now I can summarize this data by using a chart. There are a few steps to creating exactly the chart you need but they're fairly straightforward.
